We still got sunny and mild weather despite our winter trip. I really warmed up to Sydney, with it's smart urban vibe and friendliness. It reminded me of all the good things I like about LA. The art museums were mostly free, fantastic Chinatown food and I was very impressed with VIVID Sydney festival and Bondi Beach. Just don't take the red double decker tourist buses, a total rip off and not reliable.

Though the early winter weather was a little dreary, Melbourne lived up to it's fun and hip reputation. I can see why it's always listed as one of the best places to live. The only quibble I have is the architecture, which gave me the sense that it was trying too hard to impress. My favorite discovery is the small retail alleyways in downtown.

One of the world's most recognizable buildings and a must see. Definitely take the tour to get a full history and inside look. How the roof stays poop free is very interesting.
